Weather causes disruption

Crazy weather blew through South Central on Thursday. We escaped with little to no damage, but neighbors and the surrounding community can’t say the same. We did have to collect some big branches that fell into our yard. Since we were out there, the wife decided it would be a good idea for weeding. Oh well. Here’s a photo of […]

Pre Block Party Soire

A fine pre-block-party party, indeed. We couldn’t stay long, but enjoyed the company of the neighbors of South Central. I encourage all who attend the block party on Saturday to post their observations of the day. Let us know who won the rib cook-off, how many years have you attended the party, and if the band was any good.

Discovered!

I predict traffic to my blog will at least triple over the weekend. I just found out from my neighbor that she and her husband have been loyal readers for weeks! They discovered it through the power of the Information Superhighway’s GOOGLE SEARCH. Since they know we know that they know, I’m sure word will spread fast at the summer […]

Fourth of July Fun

South Central was a ghost town on the Fourth of July. Freaky. I don’t think I saw one person on the cul-de-sac until late afternoon. Is there some sort of Fourth of July activity in the Village Center we don’t know about yet? Are they all at their summer homes? Are they all watching Revolutionary Documentaries on The History Channel? […]

The Sprinkler

So I decided to SHOP WILMETTE and bypass the Lowes for my sprinkler needs. I ended up at my trusted ACE Hardware on Wilmette Avenue, just west of Green Bay Road. I realized quickly that there are many types of sprinklers – stationary, rotary, oscillating, pulsating or impulse and traveling. I’m not sure which one I bought; but it was […]

I’ll have something to say soon

To all my loyal blog readers, I apologize for not updating this site for nearly 2 months. It’s been a crazy few weeks. I had to join the community pool. For some reason, we needed our birth certificates to join the pool. Apparently, my son is too cute and people do not believe that he is mine. We also had […]

An Evening Out

I had wine yesterday evening with a few moms of the neighborhood as we watched our children frolic up and down the sidewalk enjoying the South Central sunset.

Nacional 27

Went into the city last night for an anniversary dinner at Nacional 27. Loved it. I highly recommend it. I am hoping my friend and colleague who runs the Read It and Eat blog dines there soon and gives it a worthier review than this. Here’s a brief description from the site. Really seems like quite the scene. We had […]

Umbrella

Went to Lowes last night and bought an umbrella and umbrella base for the patio table we bought off the previous owners of the house. I hope it matches.

Great Weather Attracts City Folks

We were able to get two couples from the city to come up to South Central and enjoy the patio and back yard last weekend. The weather is key. If you are a dedicated reader of this blog (I know I have at least one), you recall that trying to have a party here in February was a challenge. Although […]
